Essay Topics - What Are They?
Essay Topics - What Are They?Essay topics can vary dramatically from school to school. There are areas that require more detail than others, such as history or social studies. Essay topics can be further defined by teachers who can tell you what part of the curriculum you will need to be prepared for. Some subjects require no particular topics, but that does not mean that they do not have specific types of essay topics.English is one of the most commonly used subjects in the United States and is a high school diploma course. There are a variety of subjects offered in English classes, but two of the most popular are literature and foreign languages. These are also the subjects that parents generally teach their children, because there is no requirement that your child to learn a language at school.English essays focus on five categories of information, which can be divided into general and specific. The general essay topics are a list of characteristics, issues, or events in the life of the writer and the person doing the research for the essay. The second general topic is the same type of general topic used in some high school history class. This is called background or introduction to the topic and it provides the facts that the reader needs to know in order to understand the topic. It also provides background information on the author, who may be the student or someone else related to the topic. The third topic, the topic that gives the main focus of the essay, is the 'testimony' essay. In this essay, the writer will summarize a piece of a speech or a teaching presentation in order to explain how the speech or presentation was made, why it was effective, and how the audience responded to it.The fourth and final topic is a decision. It is the statement that says whether or not the subject is correct. This type of essay can involve some original research, such as reading through existing publications and websites in the topic area, but usually requires the writer to take an informed decision about the topic and make an argument that is supported by facts or data.By providing key points, details, examples, and research material that support the thesis of the essay, the author provides a 'skeptic's' analysis of the facts presented and why they should be accepted or rejected. Essay topics should include all of these aspects, as they are a determining factor in whether or not a reader accepts the author's ideas.
